Taylor Swift Recovers Like a Pro After Stage Malfunction During “TTPD ”Section of New Orleans Eras Tour Show
The singer, with the help of her backup dancers, kept the show going despite the prop issue
Once again, Taylor Swift is proving she knows how to "Shake It Off" during stage malfunctions.
During the singer's New Orleans Eras Tour stop at the Caesars Superdome on Sunday, Oct. 27, Swift was performing the first verse of her 2024 track “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” when the moving reflective riser box she stands on, affectionately dubbed the "Tayoomba" or "TayRoomba" by fans, stopped working.
As the artist sang “So tell me everything is not about me,” the stage piece stopped moving, according to fan-filmed footage on social media. But Swift, 34, quickly played off the malfunction, continuing to dance and sing around the stage, joined by her backup dancers, without the aid of the platform.

With the piece still malfunctioning, Swift then performed "Down Bad" for the first time on the tour without the use of the moving platform. Her quick thinking in the face of the surprise scenario landed the kudos of fans on social media, who commended Swift's seamless transition despite the malfunction.
"The sheer talent and quick thinking of Taylor and her dancers to navigate the tayroomba malfunctioning at such a pivotal moment in the show is just unbelievable — they didn’t miss a beat and figured it out so seamlessly," wrote user Brittany Conk on X (formerly Twitter).
The sentiment was echoed by others on TikTok, with user McCall Mirabella writing, "Tayroomba broke y’all 😟 but Taylor Swift is an absolute pro 💅🏼" alongside footage of the incident.
This is not the first time on the Eras Tour that Swift has adapted to malfunctioning gear.
During the first night of her Cincinnati performances in June, it appeared the trapdoor she uses to exit through during wardrobe transitions was not working, leading her to quickly run off stage to change. Swift then dropped into the comments section of a different video of her escape — which was jokingly set to AWOLNATION’s “Run” — to comment, “Still swift af boi.”
In another instance, fan footage shared on TikTok from the singer's performance of “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” during her Dublin shows in June showed the elevated stage portion she was standing on failing to lower when it was supposed to, leaving her stranded for a moment.
Swift is currently wrapping up her multi-year Eras Tour run, which heads to Indianapolis next before closing out with performances in Toronto and Vancouver.
