Taylor Swift Fans Outraged by New Title Given to Singer: 'This Is Rigged'

Taylor Swift really could've been "The One" if it wasn't for Billboard.

On Tuesday, Nov. 26, the "So High School" singer was given the No. 2 spot on Billboard's list of the Greatest Pop Stars of the 21st Century—but despite the honor, fans were left wondering why she wasn't at the very top.

Billboard hasn't yet announced who will be given the No. 1 spot, though fans online are already speculating that it will go to Beyoncé. Other artists on the list so far include Rihanna at No. 3, Drake at No. 4 and Lady Gaga at No. 5.

But many fans were raising their eyebrows at Swift's placement on the list, especially considering the accomplishments that were listed by Billboard to qualify her for the honor.

Among her numerous accolades, Swift, 34, is listed as the best-selling artist to debut this century. She's also the highest-grossing artist with the most Hot 100 entries (264 songs), and is the solo artist who has had the most No. 1 weeks.

Additionally, she is noted to have made a historic debut occupying the entire Top 14 of the Hot 100 list. Plus, she has the most consecutive years at No. 1 (soloist), the most albums spending at least one full year in the Top 10, the most albums in the Top 10 simultaneously, and the most albums in the Top 25 simultaneously.

"Every achievement on the banner has the word 'highest' and you're telling me she's the *second* greatest? a joke," one outraged fan wrote on X.

"This is RIGGED," someone else lamented, while another user insisted, "This must be a joke."

"This woman is literally the music industry, she has the highest grossing tour ever and is one of the best selling female artists and they expect us to believe that’s she’s no 2," someone else added."

Another tweet read, "We all know this is incorrect."

Despite assumptions that Beyoncé will be named No. 1, Billboard had yet to announce the top artist on the list at the time of writing.
