Taylor Kitsch reveals he's been 'asked' to be part of the “Friday Night Lights” reboot
"I would come in and do something that maybe for an episode or something."
You already know what Tim Riggins would say: Let's make some memories!
Now that a Friday Night Lights reboot is officially in the works from Universal Television, it's time to discuss who could possibly be taking the field. And let's just say Tim Riggins isn't totally out of the question (though to be clear, he won't literally be taking the field because his high school days are sadly behind him).
In a recent interview on SiriusXM’s The Spotlight with Jessica Shaw, Taylor Kitsch was discussing American Primeval, his new series with FNL executive producer/director Peter Berg, when he revealed that he's heard about the reboot. "I've been asked and we'll leave it at that," Kitsch said.

But he didn't quite leave it at that. Kitsch, who played Tim Riggins on all five seasons of the original show, said he wasn't asked to play coach, but rather, "to be part of some kind of reboot." Kitsch claimed that he wouldn't want to "lead" the reboot, but "I would come in and do something that maybe for an episode or something," he said.
When asked whether he'd play Riggins or a new character, he seemed open to both. One the one hand, Kitsch said, "I think if you saw me as someone else, you'd be like, 'That's Riggins.'" But he did have one fun idea: "I would go do maybe play an opposing teams coach or something and be on screen for like eight seconds. I would do that."

If Kitsch has been asked about the reboot, there's a chance a few others have been asked as well given that the reboot comes from original series executive producers Jason Katims, Brian Grazer, and Berg. The logline for the Peacock-bound reboot reads: "Following a devastating hurricane, a rag tag high school football team and their damaged, interim coach make an unlikely bid for a Texas High School State Championship becoming a beacon of light for their town."

If Kitsch, like Riggins, wants to live with no regrets, we're going to need him to head back to Texas. And while we're talking about it, Zach Gilford told Entertainment Weekly back in July that he would "love to work" with FNL costar Jesse Plemons again, so you know, just pointing out that this could be the perfect opportunity!
Gilford, Plemons, and Kitsch starred alongside an incredible cast in the original series, including but not limited to Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton, Gaius Charles, Scott Porter, Aimee Teegarden, Minka Kelly, Michael B. Jordan, Adrianne Palicki, and so, so many more. It's an understatement to say fans would be thrilled to see anyone from the original cast reappear, but if we're making requests, can we just say GRANDMA SARACEN, PLEASE!
