Where Mercury goes, our thoughts follow
You have probably heard about Mercury retrograde, right? It’s when the planet of communications appears to reverse in the skies and life can go a bit mad. But what about Mercury when it’s just being Mercury and not being retrograde? Mercury is the communications planet. Whenever you open your mouth to talk, or when you write something – anything from an SMS to a novel or beyond – or even if you just think or listen to someone, you’re using your Mercury. It’s the mind planet and it guides how you talk, write, otherwise express yourself and take in information. It’s your intellectual process. The sign and house Mercury is in will tell you how you think and express yourself, and even how you negotiate. (From my best-selling book Astrology Made Easy). So now Mercury is changing signs, moving from Pisces and back into the first sign of Aries. This affects us all in different ways. PS This is a day to definitely read your Rising Sign if you know it (or find it out here if you don’t!)
What does Mercury’s move into Aries mean for you?…
I always remember asking a friend a really pointed nosey question that I was OH so curious to know the answer to. She turned to me and smiled and said mysteriously “Why do you want to know?” Perfect response. Keep it on mind over the coming week. Mercury, the planet of the mind, is going through your secret 12th house. You may decide you want to stay schtum, even if you’re usually the type to be an open book. And guess what? Keeping your ideas to yourself could be the best thing you can do – so that when you do decide to talk eventually, your opinions will be fully formulated. The other possible effect of this transit of Mercury is that you are going to get the chance to see how your secret fears and unconscious beliefs are somehow sabotaging you. If you know you’ve been the source of your own undoing lately, have a think about what’s driving you. You might be amazed at how a little quite contemplating reveals to you parts of your personality which you usually keep hidden. And then you might be even more amazed at what you can do with this information, as you Get To Know Thyself. PS Going on some kind of retreat is an excellent idea now, the quieter the better. PPS If you have a secret you’re very keen to keep quiet, good luck! It might be possible for only a few more weeks, so be prepared!
