Sydney Sweeney just debuted an old-Hollywood bob for the Oscars after-party
The Oscars is undoubtedly the climax of awards season and once again, it didn't disappoint when it came to timeless red-carpet beauty. One hair transformation in particular reigned supreme this year: Sydney Sweeney retired her signature bombshell lengths to unveil a fluffy old-Hollywood bob for the official after-party.
The Euphoria star took to the red carpet with an entirely fresh look, her long blonde hair now cropped in a classic, chin-length shape complete with curled and textured, face-framing tips and a flatteringly voluminous side fringe. Her new cut, courtesy of celebrity hairstylist Glen Oropeza, was styled using a combination of classic curling wands and a paddle blow-dry brush, before the finishing touch was applied: a light glossing of Kérastase Première Intensive Shine Repairing Oil.
Sweeney's vintage Marc Bouwer gown also deservedly turned heads at the event. The plunging ivory dress was worn in tribute to Angeline Jolie, who originally wore the garment to the Academy Awards back in 2004. Following the glamorous combination of her attire and fluffy 'old-money' bob, the likeness between Sydney's Oscars ensemble and Marilyn Monroe's iconic style has also been commented upon. A timeless red-carpet statement, if ever there was one.
Over on make-up, Sweeney's look was decidedly monochrome. Her lids were sparkly and gilded with a softly golden smoke and her lips finished with a similarly auric glow.
Sweeney was far from alone when it came to the evening's classic bobs. Zendaya, ever the hairstyle chameleon, replaced her go-to ethereal extensions with an entirely sleek vintage cut with a sophisticated curl and deep side parting. Meanwhile, The Color Purple star Danielle Brooks also opted for old-school glamour with a hint of texture and generously volumised finish, and Carey Mulligan sported her signature neatly curled cut.
