Stepmom star Susan Sarandon has taken to Instagram to share a graphic photo of her horrific injuries following a nasty fall over the weekend.
While the details surrounding the incident remain unclear, the 73-year-old revealed she’s suffering a concussion, a fractured nose and a ‘banged up’ knee, along with a huge lump on her forehead which has since developed into a black eye.
The Oscar-winner’s concerned fans have taken to the comments section to share their support as she recovers from she calls a ‘little slip’.
“Still beautiful even with that shiner,” wrote one, while another added, “Wow, you’re one tough woman. Preach!”
Susan’s political spiel
Despite the painful mishap, Susan made sure to post an update on her progress on Tuesday in the form of a selfie showing off a tender looking black eye.
The mum-of-three took the opportunity to include a highly-charged political message in the caption, saying that she feels ‘lucky’ because she, unlike many other Americans, could afford a healthcare plan which covered her treatment bill.
“I’m lucky. I have Medicare to cover my visit to ER. Everyone deserves the same, not access, not pathway to, not option. M4A [the ‘Medicare-For-All’ bill] saves $. Nobody loses their home because of cancer, no rationing insulin. You know, like the rest of the free world. #bernie2020,” she wrote.
Getting behind Bernie
In an earlier post, the Lovely Bones actor voiced her disappointment over missing out on the chance to join her preferred presidential candidate, Senator Bernie Sanders, on the campaign trail due to the injury.
“So, looks like I won't be able to meet the folks in New Hampshire with Senator Sanders tomorrow. I'm really sorry I'll miss that opportunity,” she explained.
She went on to detail the speech she’d planned to deliver at the Democrat's meeting, which covered topics such as climate change, the state of healthcare, student debt, gun violence and issues surrounding the US-Mexico border.
“Senator Sanders believes in us and that together a better world is possible [...] Now it's time for us to fight for him,” she concluded her lengthy caption.
Susan has long been outspoken about her support for Sanders, sharing a snap with the presidential hopeful and her son Jack Henry Robbins, 30, back in August with the caption ‘my guys’.
