Survival Competition Series ‘Outlast’ Renewed For Season 3 At Netflix

EXCLUSIVE: Netflix is heading back to the wilderness.

The streamer has renewed Outlast, which comes from executive producer Jason Bateman, for a third season.

It comes after the second season, which consisted of eight episodes, premiered in September.

Season 1 was shot near the Neka River on Chichagof Island, Alaska, while the second season was filmed at Little Duncan Bay, Alaska, south of Petersburg.

The series features 16 lone-wolf experts who are dropped in the wilderness and must outlast one another in a battle for a million-dollar payout. There’s only one rule in this cutthroat game: They must be part of a team to win.

[SPOILER ALERT] Season 2 was won by two men from Texas – Drake Vliem II and Drew Haas. Vliem is a 6-foot-7 oil field technician from Midland, while Haas is the owner of a party boat business from Hallettsville.

The show performed well for Netflix; the second season reached the Global Top 10 in 22 countries.

It is produced by Bateman’s Aggregate Films and BBC Studios Los Angeles Productions, which is behind series such as Nat Geo’s Life Below Zero and Dancing with the Stars. Bateman exec produces alongsode Michael Costigan and Emma Ho for Aggregate Films, Ryan O’Dowd and Krystal Whitney for BBC Studios and showrunner Mike Odair.
