Channel Seven and Ten in awkward 'exclusive' face off

It seems two rival Australian television networks are in an awkward stand off over the ‘exclusivity’ of an interview with international reality superstar Kim Kardashian West.

First, The Sunday Project host Lisa Wilkinson shared an announcement on her Instagram on Wednesday revealing that Kim Kardashian had decided to give one Australian TV Interview.

“So two weeks ago Kim Kardashian decided to give one Australian TV interview for one very special reason. She chose the Sunday Project … and this Sunday you’ll find out the hilarious reason why. All will be revealed on Sunday,” she captioned an image of herself in LA for said interview.

The ‘exclusive’ interview was also plugged at the end of Wednesday night’s episode of The Project, with the promo revealing, ‘Kim Kardashian West opens up about life with Kanye, her family and fame. The exclusive interview, on The Sunday Project’.

However, on Thursday morning, Kim Kardashian West appeared in a live cross interview with rival network Channel 7 on its breakfast program Sunrise.

The interview was also labelled an ‘exclusive’ on screen as hosts Samantha Armytage and David Koch spoke to Kim, who was in LA. She spoke about her new perfume, family life, Keeping up with the Kardashians, and becoming a lawyer in the five-minute chat.

The term exclusive generally implies that no one else would have what you are offering.

On Twitter, Sunrise clarified their interview was a ‘Breakfast TV exclusive’, while The Sunday Project executive producer Craig Campbell said Lisa’s interview would be ‘much deeper’.

“We are the only exclusive sit down interview Kim has done, Sunrise was a satellite cross promoting her perfume,” he told News.com.au.

“Lisa travelled to the US to spend time with Kim on set at her invitation.”
