Sundance’s Canadian Sexy Comedy ‘Two Women’ Boarded by Pulsar Content for Worldwide Sales Ahead of Competition Premiere (EXCLUSIVE)

Pulsar Content has nabbed worldwide sales on “Two Women,” a Canadian sexy comedy which is slated to world premiere at Sundance.

Directed by Chloé Robichaud, “Two Women” is written by critically acclaimed playwright Catherine Léger based on her own play, “Home Deliveries,” which is itself a modern adaptation of Claude Fournier’s 1970 comedy “Two Women In Gold.”

“Two Women” follows neighbors Violette and Florence who are haunted by a sense of failure despite having successful careers and families. “What if happiness lies in rebelling against a rigid performance-driven society by sometimes choosing short-term satisfaction over success, freedom over being good? In a world where having fun is nowhere near the top of the priority list, having an adventure with the delivery guy can become revolutionary. For Violette and Florence this is the breath of fresh air they’ve been longing for,” reads the synopsis.

The cast is lead by Karine Gonthier-Hyndman, whose credits include the series “Happily Married,” and Laurence Leboeuf who stars in the NBC show “Transplant” and the Sundance movie “Turbo Kid.” French actor Felix Moati (“Sink or Swim”) and Mani Souleymanlou (“Universal Language”) round up the cast.

Robichaud made her feature debut with “Sarah Prefers To Run,” a portrait of a young athlete, which played at Cannes’ Un Certain Regard. Her next two other features, “Boundaries” and “Days Of Happiness,” premiered at Toronto. She also directed shorts such as “Delphine” which won a prize at Toronto and played at Venice.

“Two Women” is produced by Montreal-based production company Amerique Film. Maison 4:3 will release the film in Canada in 2025.

On top of co-writing the movie, Léger also co-produced “Two Women.” Her recent credits as a writer and co-producer include Monia Chokri’s hit film “Babysitter” which premiered at Sundance. Léger also wrote the bigscreen adaptation of “Goddess Of The Fireflies” which played at the Berlin Film Festival in 2020.

Amerique Film’s 2025 pipeline includes a British adaptation of “SGW” to be directed by Theresa Varga, co-produced with Dan Films, and “It’s Worst at Christmas,” an adaptation of “I lost my husband” that Sandrine Brodeur Desrosiers is attached to direct. Brodeur Desrosiers won the Crystal Bear at the Berlin Film Festival with “Just Me and You.”

“We are thrilled to represent ‘Two Women’ directed by Chloé Robichaud and written by Catherine Léger,” said Pulsar Content, a Paris-based sales company founded by Gilles Sousa and Marie Garrett. “This collaboration between these strong director and writer makes it a modern, intelligent and delicious comedy soon to turn into a festival and market darling,” the company stated.

Amerique Film said, “For all that make this film, thank you for the work, the craftsmanship and the talent that made it possible.” The company described “Two Women” as a “popular comedy with an edge.”

Pulsar Content’s slate include Céline Sallette’s Cannes’ Un Certain Regard title “NIKI,” about Niki de Saint-Phalle; the Cannes’ Critics week title “Block Pass;” as well as “The Opera!,” an ambitious musical starring Vincent Cassel, Fanny Ardant and Rossy De Palma. Other new titles on Pulsar’s roster include Michele Placido new feature “Eternal Visionary” about Luigi Pirandello ; Baya Kasmi’s “Mikado;” and Morgan Simon’s “Somewhere in Love” starring Valeria Bruni Tedeschi.
