The Subway Cookie Ordering Trick We Wish We’d Known About Sooner

When we think about desserts available at our favorite fast food restaurants, ice cream conesmilkshakes and pies instantly come to mind. Cookies, on the other hand, aren't typically considered an integral part of a fast food menu—except at one very popular chain, Subway.

The chain might be best known for its footlong sub sandwiches, but Subway has developed a cult following for its soft, chewy cookies. These $2 treats come in a variety of flavors: chocolate chip, white chip macadamia, raspberry cheesecake, double chocolate, oatmeal raisin and more. They also come in a standard size and foot-long versions, which often feature seasonal flavors (like the double-chocolate-peppermint one you can grab right now.)

How to Make a Subway Cookie 10x Better

According to store employees on the /subway Reddit thread, you can ask a crew member at your local Subway to warm up your cookies. This means you can get an ooey-gooey treat without making an early morning run to a cookie bakery or turning on your own oven. (Not everyone is a holiday cookie baker, and that's okay!)

One employee explained how they take a cookie and, "microwave it for a few seconds. Especially when it’s not fresh and been sitting outside for a couple hours."

"Haven't been asked to yet but I put it on parchment and stick it in the toaster for like 20 seconds, then the middle is warm and gooey again," chimed in another employee.

So if you ask politely, it seems that most Subway employees are happy and willing to upgrade your dessert, though the method depends on the location. "We don't have a microwave up front anymore, and we can't take their food to the back," explained one employee on the Reddit thread. "I'll wrap it in deli paper and put it in the toaster but not set anything. Just close the door and wait 10 seconds."

On its own, a Subway cookie has chewy edges and a pleasantly doughy center. Warming that cookie is a simple way to make it even better. Melty chocolate chips ftw!
