Bindi and Robert Irwin have made sure their father's legacy lives on as they continue to share their love of wildlife with all of Australia and the whole world.

And they are doing exactly what their late father, Steve Irwin, would have wanted.

Bindi shared footage she had never seen before of her late dad emotionally talking about his "ultimate goal".

"Is there anything in this world that would want to make me give away what I'm doing now?" Steve says in the clip.

"Yes, there is. When my children can take the football that I call wildlife conservation and run it up. When they're ready to run up our mission, I will gladly step aside.

"And I guarantee you it will be the proudest moment of my life," the late Crocodile Hunter said holding back his tears.

"My job will be done. Then, and only then, will I know that I have achieved my ultimate goal. To be able to stand aside and let them run up my mission."

Bindi, 19, took to Instagram to post the emotional clip of her late dad, revealing she hadn't seen the footage until "a few days ago".

"I don't think I'll ever be able to describe the amount of emotion in my heart once the video ended," she wrote.

"My dad. My superhero. I promise to do my best to make you proud and ensure your legacy lives on forever."

She went onto express her excitement about the new Animal Planet series she stars in with mum, Terri, and brother, Robert.

"There is so much on the horizon," she said.

"We can't wait to share our story as a family."

Steve tragically passed away at 44-years-old in 2006, after being stung by a stingray while filming a documentary in Queensland.
