Though Travis is happily canoodling with former campaign manager Eli, Thursday’s “This Woman’s Work” ended with the firefighter comforting ex-lover Emmett over dad Dixon’s death. Not necessarily. Clack suggests that the romp may have less to do with unfinished business between the old flames and more to do with Travis’ “arc in general. It’s the beginning of him finding himself. On that journey, it’s one little step for him.”

One little step away from Eli, it seems. Paige doesn’t see it that way. “There are all kinds of relationships, and there are different kinds of rules to different relationships,” he notes. “So there are certainly ways of navigating things that are not absolute or black-and-white.”
