Starbucks Fans Say New Sweet and Salty Drinks 'Need to Come to the US ASAP'

Starbucks menus in the U.S. received quite the holiday makeover today, but still, fans are yearning for two seasonal drinks the chain is only offering overseas—at least, for right now, anyway.

Beginning on Thursday, Nov. 7, the fan-favorite coffee chain officially debuted its 2024 holiday menu featuring some of the most sought-after flavors of the season, as well as its limited-edition holiday cups (as for Red Cup Day, still no official word, but we suspect it could be as soon as next week).

And just as it did at home, Starbucks also appears to have launched winter-inspired drinks in other parts of the globe.

Even though it's technically spring in Australia, the coffee giant "unwrapped" seasonal sips like the Gingerbread Latte, Toffee Crunch Cold Brew, and two more causing people to turn green with envy: the Salted Pretzel Cocoa Frappuccino and the Salted Pretzel Cocoa Latte (available iced or hot).

The sweet and salty beverages are also being rolled out in the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore, per online menus local to the regions reviewed by Parade.

In Australia, the company advertises the latte as a way to "bring together your favourite festive snacks with red cookies, pretzel pieces and delicious cocoa drizzle, atop our classic latte infused with salty pretzel syrup."

Meanwhile, the Frappuccino is described as "the perfect blend of ice, coffee, salty pretzel syrup and your choice of milk! Topped with classic cocoa drizzle, whipped cream and crunchy festive flavours."

Food blogger Snackolator was among the first to tip off fans in the U.S., writing in a Nov. 6 Instagram upload that "the idea of a salted pretzel cocoa flavor sounds pretty amazing," suggesting the overseas exclusives were too good not to share.

The comment section soon filled up with excitement, followed by earth-shattering disappointment, as the influencer's followers realized the seasonal drinks were an international exclusive.

"I was so excited then I saw it wasn’t in the US 😭," one top-liked comment bemoaned.

Similarly, a second lamented, "I was so excited and then immediate sadness."

"Yes this needs to come to the us asap," another agreed.

"Bring to US!" a fourth declared.

While there's no knowing what the future may hold for a U.S. version of the salted pretzel beverage, there is some more good news for its domestic customers. Also going into effect on Thursday is the updated pricing policy that no longer charges an extra fee when substituting milk for a non-dairy option, and the official phasing out of its controversial olive oil drinks.
