‘Squid Game’ Crosses 4 Billion Minutes Watched for the Second Week in a Row, Tying a ‘Wednesday’ Nielsen Record
“Squid Game” reached 4.6 billion minutes watched on Netflix in Season 2’s first full week of availability, per Nielsen.
Even though that’s a small drop from the 4.9 billion minutes the series achieved the week before, which included Season 2’s debut weekend, this is a massive achievement for the South Korean drama. It’s rare that any series crosses 4 billion minutes watched on Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings, and “Squid Game” is the first to do so since “Wednesday” premiered in 2022. It should be noted that Nielsen combines viewership of all seasons of a title into one statistic, meaning that the 4.6 billion minutes include viewership of both seasons of “Squid Game” between Dec. 30 and Jan. 5, but Nielsen also notes that Season 2 contributed to 80% of that total.
