Getting excited for eggnog and hot cocoa season? You might want to turn to something colder—at least that’s what Sprite is hoping.

Last month, the soda brand announced that it would bring back the Winter Spiced Cranberry flavor for its sixth year. The popular seasonal soda with comforting holiday spices replaced the classic Sprite Cranberry in 2019. In that same year, Sprite introduced a unique flavor that was only available from a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine. Now, the brand is reintroducing this flavor as an in-store product so you can take it home and serve it alongside your Christmas ham.

Sprite Brings Back Vanilla Frost Soda

Meet the Vanilla Frost flavor, Sprite's caffeine-free sipper that's sure to make fans feel a tad more festive this winter. The effervescent lemon-lime drink benefits from the addition of vanilla, but it’s the hint of spices that makes the soda ideal for holiday consumption.

The limited-edition beverage, which Kroger calls “refreshingly untraditional,” is made with natural flavors and is available in 12-packs of 12-ounce cans or in 20-ounce bottles. To kick off the holiday season, the store is offering a buy-two-get-three discount for up to ten packages.

According to the Instagram account @markie_devo, the yuletide concoction is already available at some Kroger stores and will be sold at other grocery locations owned by its parent company, including Ralph’s, Fry’s, and Harris Teeter. Both the full-sugar and zero versions will return to select Coca-Cola Freestyle machines, likely in December, Devo says.

His followers’ reactions to the new product were mostly favorable. “The gates of heaven have opened,” said one fan. But trust Reddit to show the flip side. Folks posting on that site were more divided on the idea of vanilla and Sprite together.

“I’ve had vanilla sprite from those freestyle machines and I really didn’t enjoy it, I love a lot of sodas but that was just not for me,” said one commenter.

Another added, “No thanks I'm fine with my winter spiced cranberry sprite and ginger ale.”

But for those of us who are craving an antidote to the typical holiday tipples, Vanilla Frost Sprite sounds like a Christmas wish come true.
