"I don't want to think about legacy," she told Deadline in an article published on Thursday, Nov. 7. "I want to think about my next movie. I'll think of legacy once I retire, and I hope never to retire."

The longtime talent is one of the last remaining stars of Hollywood’s Golden Age of cinema, and she's still going. Most recently, the Grumpier Old Men actress starred in 2020-released Oscar-nominated film The Life Ahead, written and directed by her son Edoardo Ponti, whom she shares with Italian film producer, Carlo Ponti.

Giving further insight into her career longevity, she admitted to the publication that the key to success has been to "never have a plan B."

“So that when you are faced with an obstacle you find insurmountable, you don’t end up taking the easy way out,” Loren explained. “You take a deep breath, push on and find the right solution to your problem as you have no choice but to move forward. No plan Bs, only a plan A.”

While in her early career, some were quick to label her solely a siren or sex symbol, she never let that stop her from going after roles she wanted and working hard.

“I am not naïve, I am aware of the fact that some people respond to me in such a way but I’ve never given it much thought,” she admitted. “What I have given much thought to has always been being true to my craft and being part of stories that can move and inspire people, and in that respect, Hollywood has always been a great source of inspiration for me.”
