The deal sees Brass Monkeys Media and Royal Entertainment Group use Sony’s infrastructure and production capabilities and gives Sony access to Rigg’s lifestyle formats and competition shows, and Malloy’s expertise in male-driven programming.
Rigg was previously Head of Unscripted for DIGA Studio, where he oversaw series such as Selling the Hamptons for Max, Million Dollar Beach House for Netflix, America’s Big Deal for USA, Hot Ones: The Game Show for truTV, and The Flipping El Moussas for HGTV. Before that, he was President of ITV joint venture Loud Television, which was behind Tiny House Nation for FYI and A&E, and Netflix’s Girls Incarcerated, and House Hunters International producer Leopard Films USA, where he was President.
Malloy was a cofounder of American Chainsaws Entertainment between 2010 and 2023. He has created and produced series including the long-running Mountain Monsters for Travel Channel, Laff Mobb’s Laff Tracks for truTV, The Wonderland Murders for Discovery ID, and Roku’s UFO Cowboys.
Sony Pictures Television – Nonfiction is behind series including American Idol, 90 Day Fiancé and Leah Remini: Scientology & the Aftermath via its stakes in companies including Sharp Entertainment, The Intellectual Property Corporation (IPC), B17 Entertainment, 19 Entertainment, This Machine, Trilogy Films, Maxine Productions, and UnConventional Entertainment.
“These partnerships with two established unscripted hitmakers reflect a significant addition to SPT’s diverse slate. Nick has a proven track record of creating and producing long-running hits in a variety of genres, while Royal’s knack for finding larger-than-life characters is simply unsurpassed. Their strengths will only benefit from SPT’s resources and phenomenal bench of production talent,” said SPT – Nonfiction President Eli Holzman and Co-President Aaron Saidman.
Royal Entertainment Group is represented by Amanda Kogan at Aaron Kogan Management.
