Sofía Vergara, 51, Reveals She Won’t Date Men More Than 2 Years Younger Than Herself
"I'm intelligent," the actress said during an appearance on 'Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen' on Wednesday
Sofía Vergara has a new dating rule.
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Wednesday, the 51-year-old revealed that she won’t date someone who is more than two years younger than her.
The actress’ admission came during a discussion about Puerto Rican musician Bad Bunny name-checking her in his track “Monaco.” As Vergara admitted she “threw my phone” when she found out about the shout-out from the rapper, 29, fellow guest Alexia Nepola noted, “And by the way, he’s single!”
“Would you ever date him?” The Real Housewives of Miami star then asked her.
“Well no let's not go crazy, let's not go crazy. He is younger than my son Manolo. Manolo is 32,” responded Vergara, who shares her son with her ex-husband Joe Gonzalez.

“Is that the rule? They can’t be younger than your son?” asked host Cohen, 56.
Nepola, also 56, agreed and added, “For me that’s always been that, I’ve always had that rule.”
But the Griselda star took it a step further: “To me, they can’t be younger than 50, I’m 51.”

“Really?” asked Cohen.
“Okay, 49,” she clarified, adding with a laugh, “I’m intelligent.”
“Wow, I’m screwed by that rule,” joked Cohen.
Vergara, whose estranged husband Joe Manganiello is 47, also shed further light on Bad Bunny name-checking her on WWHL and revealed that the shout-out was a “surprise.”
“I didn’t know he was going to do it,” admitted the Modern Family alum. “It was super exciting. I love him.”
In “Monaco,” which features on his fifth studio album Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana, Bad Bunny sings, “Sofía Vergara is beautiful, but she is more beautiful in person.”
Vergara responded to the singer showing his love for her on Instagram back in October, sharing a clip from the music video with the caption, “You're more beautiful @badbunnypr 😘😘😘😘.”
During an interview with Spanish newspaper El País earlier this month, Vergara opened up about her split from Manganiello and revealed that the pair weren’t on the same page when it came to expanding their family. The couple’s divorce was confirmed by PEOPLE in July.
"My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids and I didn’t want to be an old mom," she explained. "I feel it’s not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that’s not for me anymore."
"I had a son at 19, who is now 32, and I’m ready to be a grandmother, not a mother," she continued. "So, if love comes along, he has to come with [his own] children."

"I’m almost in menopause; it’s the natural way of things," she added. "When my son becomes a dad, let him bring the baby to me for a while and then I’ll give it back to him and go on with my life; that’s what I have to do."'
In November, Vergara was spotted on several dinner dates with orthopedic surgeon Justin Saliman. The pair were first photographed together the previous month when they went out for dinner at an Italian restaurant in Beverly Hills for Kim Kardashian's birthday celebrations.
