‘SNL’ Cold Open Debuts Spot-On Impressions of Trump's Cabinet Members (Including a Celeb's Take on RFK Jr.)

Seemingly every day this week Donald Trump announced a new appointee for his upcoming presidential cabinet, and it was inevitable that Saturday Night Live would offer its satirical take on some of his more interesting choices. In this weekend’s cold open, we saw Trump (James Austin Johnson) and President Joe Biden (Dana Carvey) inside the Oval Office sitting in front of a roaring fireplace. “I’m going to sit here and smile while ignoring the giant fire right behind me,” Biden said, “Just like that meme… This is fine.”

Throughout the sketch, the “two boomers talking about nukes” took turns rambling incoherently before trading thoughts on the realities of living in the White House. “I hate living in the White House. So old. So dated,” Trump lamented. “So many of the carpets are stinky and sticky at the same time… like being at a Regal Cinemas.”

When Carvey’s Biden tried to offer some presidential advice, Trump shot him down citing that he “already knows how to do President” and that it is all about creating the “most epic cabinet of all time.” Describing his almost haphazard cabinet picks, the President-elect prattled, “They’re some of the most dynamic, free-thinking, animal-killing, sexually-criminal, medically-crazy people in the country.”

A couple of his appointees even interrupted the Oval Office meeting, including Sarah Sherman as Matt Gaetz, whose impersonation was as chilling as it was hilarious. “Thank you for nominating me for Attorney General,” she started. “If anyone tries to break the law I’ll tell them what I told my eyebrows: freeze!” While Sherman’s prosthetic eyebrows were ripe for nightmare fuel, here’s hoping this wasn’t the last we’ll see of this impression.

And Gaetz wasn’t the only one to stop by in this week’s cold open. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (played by Emmy award winner Alec Baldwin) also made an appearance and marked Baldwin’s second cold open cameo this season following his performance as Fox News's Bret Baier just weeks ago. Being appointed the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, RFK Jr.’s controversial stance on vaccinations took center stage when Baldwin croaked out, “I care deeply about a woman’s right to choose… to give her child polio.”
