'I looked better than the bride' - Sister-in-law trolled over white gown
Everyone knows - or should know - a white gown at a wedding is a big no-no for anyone other than the bride.
Of course, mistakes happen, and lessons are learnt, but what happens when a guest deliberately tries to upstage the bride on her big day?
As it turns out, the internet responds swiftly, and without mercy particularly if that guest also happens to be the future bride’s sister-in-law.
A woman’s review of a dress on Facebook was trolled mercilessly after she shared her experience rocking the white evening looks to her sister’s wedding.
The white gown comes with a matching cape and is bridal enough in and of itself to raise an eyebrow.
Deliberate sabotage of bride
It was the caption however that truly made a splash, with a shameless reference to the gown’s wedding dress aesthetic.
“Well let’s just say I wore the dress to my brother-in-law’s wedding and I looked better than the bride and people started talking,” the caption reads.
“This dress is AMAZING and I will be buying another colour I love it.”
The photo shows a white floor-length gown with a sweetheart neckline, set off by a sweeping gown resplendent with diamante detailing.
Criticism online for ‘ugly’ move by sister-in-law
At first glance, the casual observer would be sure to mistake the piece for a wedding dress, and horrified commentators were quick to slam it for that very reason.
“I actually love that dress for a BRIDE, not for a f***ing guest,” one person wrote.
“What an ugly thing to do,” another agreed.
“Lol if someone showed up to my wedding like that I'd kick her a** out,” one woman shared.
“I don't even care about the colour but her intent to overshadow the bride was there,” a shrewd observer pointed out.
“She was even proud that she created a fuss about it. Tells us more about what kind of person she is.”
Safe to say there is one family looking forward to a future of awkward Christmas dinners together.
