Bay South, which marked the official opening of Singapore's latest leisure attraction last month, is the largest of the gardens at 54 hectares, showcasing the best of tropical horticulture and garden artistry.

One of the key architectural highlights is undoubtedly Bay South's 18 man-made futuristic Supertrees, ranging from 25 - 50 metres in height. A key attraction of these giant structures is the 128-metre long aerial skywalk set amongst the treetops, 22 metres above ground, enabling visitors to take in panoramic views of the gardens and city below.

These Supertrees are a key feature of the botanical wonderland and perform a number of functions aside from generating shade. These vertical gardens collect rainwater and solar energy, which are used for small water features as well as lighting up the Supertrees respectively.

Each element of the thoughtfully designed garden project has been constructed with sustainability in mind. Bay South's other key features - the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest conservatories - rely on horticultural waste to generate energy to cool the glass domes, while the Dragon Fly and Kingfisher lakes catch runoff water to recycle and feed through the irrigation system.

Gardens by the Bay is Singapore's newest tourist attraction showcasing the destination's continual transformation and offerings beyond its bustling urban centre.

Gardens by the Bay is open to the public from 5.00am to 2.00am daily. Opening hours for the cooled conservatories and the aerial walkway in the Supertree Grove are from 9.00am to 9.00pm daily (conditions apply).
