We all know to curb our expectations when it comes to online shopping, but the most recent example of an expectation vs reality fail might mark a new low for online retailers failing to deliver.

For those who haven’t encountered enigmatic wish.com they are an online retailer specialising in everything and anything.

The business is famous for bizarre Facebook ads promoting everything from clip-on ponytails, to medieval cloaks, to seemingly-normal tracksuits to runners worryingly selling for around $3.

Now it seems they have entered the miniature furniture business, to one shopper’s evident dismay.

Not what I ordered

What the woman had taken for a bargain price on a television on the company’s site, turned out to be a bit of a hefty sum for what arrived.

Reposted to Reddit, the original Facebook post from the irate shopper showed the ‘television’ that arrived on her doorstep, alongside a strongly-worded caption.

“I ordered a tele off um and they sent this to me and they even gave a remote the cheeky ****,” she wrote.

Though she warned against shopping on the site, a closer look at the listed product confirms it is indeed labelled as Miniature Modern Dollhouse Furniture TV, and the excitement at the $9 price-tag must have trumped reading the T&C’s, or the product description.

Hilarious response

The hilarious photograph shows the tiny television lying on the woman’s outstretched palm, with the world’s tiniest remote keeping it company.

The photo elicited a strange response among the Reddit users who flooded the post.

“If these actually work I want one,” one wrote.

“Its super cute! Now I want one of those,” another agreed.

Most shook their heads at the naivety of ordering a cheap TV and expecting a quality product, but others shared their own experiences with size adjustment.

“I've been dumb like this before. Adorable backpack- a sweet price,” one shared.

“Yeah- it was a mini mini. Still cute.”

“For $4 what more did you expect?” another wisely pondered.
