She shared a video of River with the caption: "River William Stone. Sept. 8, 2020 - Aug. 30, 2021."

The heartbreaking video shows River smiling at the camera as Eric Clapton’s song, Tears in Heaven, plays in the background.

“I’m so sorry Lord,” actress Andie Macdowell commented.

“I’m so sorry. Deep heartfelt prayers for your family,” Hilary Swank wrote.

“Oh Sharon. I’m so sorry for your loss. Sending love to your whole family,” Melanie Griffith commented.

River is the son of Sharon's brother Patrick, and the actress introduced the baby boy to her Instagram followers shortly after he was born in September last year.

Sharon is a mum to three sons, Quinn, 15, Laird, 16, and Roan, 21, whom she adopted.

"Motherhood didn't come easily, but it came lovingly to me by angels. We're a happy and lucky family. That is the credo we stand for,” Sharon told People magazine in 2017.

"We have a choice about what we teach our children — we have to stand tall and say yes to love."
