If you felt F.O.M.O. during Nathan’s Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest, chain restaurants have you covered with sweet deals on franks for National Hot Dog Day. Shake Shack is one of several fast food spots handing out glizzies on July 17.

The burger joint has free Shack Dogs with any purchase on Wednesday. Customers have to use the code FREEHOTDOG when paying at a kiosk, online or on the app or just ask for the deal when ordering in the restaurant. There is a limit of one hot dog per customer.

Other fast-food joints are stepping up the deals with discounts that will have you saying, “Hot diggity dog!” Nathan’s Famous customers can get a hot dog for just 5 cents. The low price point is not a random number — it was the original price of a Nathan’s Famous hot dog when the first restaurant opened in 1916, according to a release.

To score the deal, which limits customers to two 5-cent dogs, head to a Nathan’s Famous location between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17.

Over at 7-Eleven, rewards members can grab a $2 hot dog when ordering via the app. Again, you won’t be reaching Joey Chestnut’s record of 76 dogs here as each customer is limited to one hot dog.

PEOPLE caught up with the competitive food eater after Chestnut missed Nathan's Famous Fourth of July Hot Dog-Eating Contest this summer for the first time in 20 years. (He was not allowed to compete due a conflict with a plant-based brand that he has a partnership with.)

Instead, the 16-time Nathan’s champion spent his Fourth of July competing at a fundraising event for military families at the Fort Bliss army base in Texas, where he downed 57 hot dogs in five minutes. Despite pounding down hot dogs for sport, Chesnut said he still eats the summertime staple off-stage.

“Oh my god, I still love them,” he told PEOPLE. “If I'm at a baseball game, I'm going to have a hot dog and Pepsi goes with it, and it's one of those things I love.”

“My go-to toppings are mustard and raw onions," he added. "Oh, a good chili cheese dog… The right proportions of chili cheese really help it."
