‘Shadowhunters,’ ‘The Originals’ Alum Matt Hastings Signs With Gersh (EXCLUSIVE)

Writer, director, and executive producer Matt Hastings has signed with Gersh, Variety has learned exclusively. Hastings continues to also be repped by attorney Bob Getman and The Gotham Group.

News of the signing comes on the same day as the launch of Hastings’ newest series, “Fallen,” which is set to premiere on Sundance Now and AMC+. That show is adapted from Lauren Kate’s “Fallen” novel series. Hastings directed the pilot and served as showrunner and executive producer on the show, which is an international co-production.

Hastings is a two-time Emmy nominee. He shared in the best drama series nomination for the hit Hulu series “The Handmaid’s Tale,” on which he served as a writer and co-executive producer. He was also nominated for the Children & Family’s Emmy Award for outstanding directing for a single camera program for his work on the series “Codebreakers.”

Hastings other credits include executive producing the Freeform series “Shadowhunters,” which ran for three seasons. He was also a part of the “Vampire Diaries” universe at The CW, working as a co-executive producer on the flagship show as well as on the spinoff “The Originals.” His other credits include “Reign,” “Eureka,” and “Alphas.” Hastings has also directed episodes of shows like “Shadowhunters,” “The Originals,” “Reign,” “Eureka,” “Warehouse 13,” and “The Outer Limits.”

In addition to “Fallen,” Hastings (a dual citizen of the U.S. and Canada) worked to assemble premium international co-productions and has a series in development with companies such as Netflix, Sony, Lionsgate, Gaumont, Federation, AGC, Anonymous Content, Blink49, Beta, Cineflix, Boat Rocker and MediaPro.
