The couple first shared the news of their engagement on Instagram on Aug. 12, with Giulia Be writing, "Easiest yes of all time"
Conor Kennedy is sharing a new glimpse into the moment when he popped the question to Brazilian singer Giulia Be.
In a series of photos taken by Conor and shared exclusively with PEOPLE, the 30-year-old son of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and 25-year-old Giulia Be — whose real name is Giulia Bourguignon Marinho — can be seen embracing and looking into each other's eyes. One of the images shows the couple surrounded by votive candles placed around the floor to set the romantic scene.
The couple first announced their engagement on Aug. 12 via a joint Instagram post featuring photos and a short video captured just after Conor proposed. In the clip, which shows the two hugging and kissing, an emotional Giulia Be could be heard saying: “I literally can’t believe this. I’m dreaming. This is a dream, this is a dream. I’m so happy.”

Conor then added, “I love you so much, potato," revealing his affectionate nickname for his fiancée.

One photo in the set showed Conor holding a light blue ring box, while another offered a close-up look at Giulia Be's dazzling diamond engagement ring.

The "Too Bad" singer captioned the engagement post, "Easiest yes of all time 🩵💍."
Robert’s wife, actress Cheryl Hines, shared her support in the comments, writing, "Welcome to the family Giulia!!!!! We love you so much." In response, Guilia Be wrote, "I love you guys so much 🤍 so so so happy to join."
Other members of the extended Kennedy family to congratulate the couple included Carole Radziwill and Patrick Schwarzenegger, who wrote, "Congrats brother."
According to Page Six, the couple began dating in February 2022, and Giulia Be moved from Brazil to the United States to be with Conor.
Conor previously dated pop star Taylor Swift in 2012.
Days after the engagement post, Conor's father Robert — who announced on Friday, Aug. 23, that he was dropping out of the 2024 presidential race — shared his excitement over his son's happy news.
"I’m proud of Conor’s many accomplishments at such a young age, but most of all of his integrity, his courage and his character," Robert, 70, exclusively told PEOPLE. "But nothing has brought our family more pleasure than his love affair with Giulia."
He added, "We are all so lucky that these two gifted people found each other."
Robert previously spoke to PEOPLE about his pride in Conor after his son made the surprising decision to fight in Ukraine amid Russia's invasion of the country. Scrapping his plans to take a summer job with a Los Angeles law firm, Conor traveled to Ukraine without telling his family.

Robert recalled to PEOPLE that Conor simply told him, "I'm doing something that I want to do and [something that] I believe in and and I don't want you to ask about it."
The politician and environmental lawyer said that when Conor returned and he learned where his son had gone, "I kind of expressed some — I don't know — whether it's anger or whatever."
Robert recalled, "He said to me, when he heard maybe a little bit of anger and concern, 'Dad, this is what you taught me to do: to stand up for what I believe in.' And I was like, 'Okay.' "
Ultimately, Robert said, his son's decision brought him great pride. "I'm very proud of this," he added. "Of my son."
