Yahoo Lifestyle Scottie Scheffler’s caddie carted off at The Northern Trust with lower leg injury
PGA Tour rookie Scottie Scheffler’s caddie went down midway through his final round at The Northern Trust on Sunday afternoon at TPC Boston and had to be carted off the course.
Scheffler’s caddie, Scott McGuinness, was walking up to his ball on the ninth green when he suddenly collapsed to the ground. McGuinness, Scheffler said, fell right as they spotted his ball about when they were about 30 yards from the pin.

“As I say that, he jumps to see where the ball is and immediately he goes down,” Scheffler said, via ESPN. “And luckily it’s high up on the calf, it wasn’t his Achilles. At first, he said he heard something pop, so mind starts to wander to dangerous places. But hopefully he’ll be all right.”
Scheffler was playing his final round with Louis Oosthuizen, whose caddie instantly took over and carried both bags over to the 10th tee box. Eric Ledbetter, an assistant golf pro at TPC Boston, then took over for the back nine.
Scheffler said he thought McGuinness would be OK, but wasn’t sure if he’d be able to caddie for him at the BMW Championship — the second of three FedExCup Playoffs events — next week.
“He said he’ll know more in the morning,” Scheffler said, via ESPN.
“It depends what it looks like and feels in the morning. We’ll see. I don’t know what to think right now. Hopefully, he’ll be able to go next week, but I’ll do some preparations tonight just in case he can’t, so I’ll figure something out.”
Scheffler’s historic week at TPC Boston
Though he didn’t win, the week at TPC Boston isn’t one that Scheffler will forget anytime soon.
The 24-year-old — who was last year’s Korn Ferry Tour Player of the Year — posted a 59 in the second round on Friday, the second-lowest score in a single round in PGA Tour history.
Scheffler notched six birdies on both sides in Round 2 to hit the mark, one that only 11 other golfers have hit before. He is the second-youngest ever to do so. Jim Furyk posted a 58 at the Travelers Championship in 2016.
Scheffler ended in a tie for fourth at 17 under. 22-time Tour winner Dustin Johnson — who posted a 60 on Friday — ran away with the event and got to 30-under par, 11 shots better than the next closest in the field.
