Schumer: Trump willing to keep government shut for ‘months or even years’

After meeting with President Trump at the White House, Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., told reporters that the president expressed a willingness to keep the government shut down for “months or even years” if he does not win funding for the wall on the U.S.-Mexico border. The Democratic leaders had met with the president to discuss reopening the government while they continue to find the best way to keep our borders safe. Trump later confirmed his statement during a press conference in the Rose Garden.
