Sarah Michelle Gellar is passing along some of her beauty tricks to the next generation.

Speaking with PEOPLE about her partnership with Philosophy, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum, 47, admitted that she and her 15-year-old daughter Charlotte have been sharing beauty tips back and forth as the teenager has gotten older.

"It's funny, it was her birthday, and so she had a sleepover and we are painting our house currently, so all of her girlfriends were in my bathroom," Gellar recalls to PEOPLE.

"It was fun because we were all sharing tips back and forth. I learned from them. They learned from me. Sometimes she tells me, 'Oh mom, no one does that anymore,' and then her friends will be like, 'Well, actually, that's really good.'"

"I get some street cred from her friends," adds Gellar.

Although she loves that her daughter is getting older, Gellar admits it's "horrifying" that her daughter has become a teenager. "I think I should be a teenage girl," she jokes.

To celebrate her daughter's 15th birthday in September, Gellar shared a rare video of Charlotte showing off her impressive gymnastics skills.

In the Instagram video, Charlotte performed a cartwheel followed by a back somersault on an inflatable mat in what appeared to be the family’s backyard.

“We are all jumping and flipping Charlotte because it’s your 15 Birthday!! I don’t know how it’s possible but every year I love you more ❤️ 🎉🎁 🎂,” the proud mom captioned the clip, which was set to Stevie Wonder’s “Happy Birthday.”
