On Wednesday, Dec. 18, the producers behind the Broadway adaptation of The Great Gatsby exclusively shared with PEOPLE that Hyland, 34, will return to Broadway to portray Daisy Buchanan beginning Monday, Feb. 10.
Hyland, who debuted on Broadway back in 2006 in Grey Gardens, will costar in The Great Gatsby alongside Ryan McCartan as Jay Gatsby, who begins performing the role on Jan. 21. Jeremy Jordan and Eva Noblezada, 28, who originated the Broadway production's roles, will take their final bows in the show on Jan. 19 and Jan. 30, respectively.
Hyland is known best for her role on the 2010s-era ABC sitcom Modern Family. She returned to the stage in New York earlier this year in the off-Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors, in which she costarred with Andrew Barth Feldman.
The Great Gatsby, which opened on Broadway back in April, won one Tony Award this year for best costume design of a musical. The show is based on the 1925 novel of the same name by author F. Scott Fitzgerald, which celebrates its 100th anniversary of its publishing this upcoming year.
The production is holding a centennial celebration for the novel on Jan. 16 with a benefit in partnership with the New York Public Library, featuring a gala performance of the show to toast Jordan, 40, and Noblezada and a symbolic "passing of the torch" to McCartan, 31, and Hyland in the lead roles.
