Decades after divorce, Fergie and Andrew are still a 'solidified team'

Sarah Ferguson has given a rare insight into family life with former husband Prince Andrew and their two daughters, Princess Beatrice, 30, and Princess Eugenie, 28.

During an interview on ‘Good Morning Britain’, the Duchess of York spoke candidly about her relationship with Andrew, post-divorce, saying they support each other emotionally and health-wise.

“The way we have always managed is to be very, very solidified as a team together,” the 59-year-old revealed.

In turn, the former couple’s amicable relationship has enabled the family to stay close despite them filing for divorce in 1996.

“At least every two weeks we sit down together and communicate, the four of us,” Fergie added.

The Duchess also discussed her role as a mother to Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, who wed Jack Brooksbank in October, saying she believes in the “example of leadership”.

“The way I have been a mother to my girls, is I never hide anything from them. So, the fears? We address them straight on,” she said.

Despite calling it quits on their decade-long marriage, the Duke and Duchess of York have remained close friends over the years.

The former couple famously lived together in the Royal Lodge from 2008 until 2015 when Fergie moved into a ski chalet in Switzerland that they purchased together.

Speaking about her parents surprisingly friendly relationship, Princess Eugenie told Vanity Fair back in 2011 that they’re the “best divorced couple I know.”
