Russell Crowe is unrecognisable on set of new film
Russell Crowe was very much in character when seen on the set of his new movie this week.
The 54-year-old actor sported a scruffy bushranger beard while filming True History Of The Kelly Gang in Victoria.
Russell, who is set to play Ned Kelly’s mentor Harry Power in the film, also wore a bulky brown coat layered over a printed shirt and vest.
Last month the award-winning actor shared some of his pre-film preparation with fans.
Taking to Instagram, he posted a video in which he drew attention to his bold facial hair, grown especially for this movie role.
In the clip, he combed his long hair and scruffy beard all the while singing Christian hymn, ‘The Sweet By-and-By’.
It’s fair to say many fans were taken aback by his shaggy appearance that was a complete contrast to his gladiator days.
“Oh Russell, you keep coming up on my stream but I can’t wait for you to finish with this part and return to the hot, sexy man we all know you as lol. Mmm like Gladiator days,” one fan commented.
While others were a little harsher, calling it ‘creepy’ and saying, “This weirds me out”.
True History Of The Kelly Gang boasts a star-studded cast including the likes of Sons Of Anarchy’s Charlie Hunnam, British actor Nicholas Hoult and Australians Essie Davis and Claudia Karvan.
