- Russell Brand has been accused of rape, sexual assault, and emotional abuse. Here's what you need to know.
A joint investigation by The Sunday Times, The Times, and Channel 4's Dispatches accused the comedian of multiple assaults from 2006 to 2013. One of the alleged victims was 16 at the time and said "Russell engaged in the behaviors of a groomer, looking back, but I didn't even know what that was then, or what that looked like." An additional accusation has been made to the UK police this week, alleging a sexual assault took place in 2003.
Russell Brand has strongly denied the allegations and released a YouTube video addressing them the day before the investigation broke. He deemed the allegations a "coordinated media attack." YouTube has now said Russell Brand will not make money from the site and removed some of his material from the platform. Promoters have also postponed the remaining dates in Russell Brand's live shows.
