Robin Williams’ son honours late dad with wedding on his birthday

Robin Williams’ family has found something new to celebrate on July 21, which would have marked the late comedian’s 68th birthday.

Williams died by suicide in 2014, leaving behind three children: daughter Zelda and sons Zak and Cody.

On Tuesday, Zelda Williams announced that the younger of her two brothers, Cody, chose July 21 as his wedding date as a way of honoring their beloved dad.

The proud sister also shared photos from the nuptials, which feature older brother Zak and Cody’s bride, Maria Flores Williams.

In her emotional post, Zelda noted the bittersweet significance of the date, saying that her father’s death had “begun to usurp the joy” of the memories linked to July 21, which also marks the anniversary of the moon landing in 1969 and her friend Juno Temple’s birthday.

She went on to call Cody and his new wife a “light in all of our lives.”

Further details of the event have not yet been revealed. Cody and Zelda Williams hail from the Mrs. Doubtfire star’s second marriage to Marsha Garces, while Zak’s mother is the Oscar winner’s first wife, Valerie Velardi.

In other happy family news, Zak and fiancée Olivia June became parents on May 22, naming their baby boy McLaurin Clement Williams in a nod to his famous grandpa, Robin McLaurin Williams.
