Yahoo Lifestyle Rising Magic star Jonathan Isaac to miss at least 2 months with knee injury
The Orlando Magic announced on Thursday that forward Jonathan Isaac will miss at least two months with a knee injury suffered Wednesday against the Washington Wizards.
Isaac was taken off the court on a stretcher and initially diagnosed with a hyperextended left knee before MRI results on Thursday showed that he suffered a severe sprain labeled a “posterior lateral corner injury” and a bone contusion. He did not suffer major ligament damage.
ACL, MCL intact
“While this certainly is disappointing news, there was not damage to his ACL, MCL and PCL ligaments,” Magic president of basketball operations Jeff Weltman said in a statement. “All signs point to a complete recovery, and this should not impact his future growth.”
He is officially out indefinitely and will be reevaluated in eight-to-10 weeks.
Isaac, 22 years old and the No. 6 pick in the 2017 draft, was in the midst of a breakout season after being touted for his athleticism and potential as a defensive force in the NBA.
A third-year pro, Isaac started to cash in on his potential, averaging 12 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.4 blocks and 1.6 steals this season. A 6-11 forward, he’s also a capable 3-point shooter, connecting on 33 percent of his 2.8 attempts per game.
