'RHOSLC' Newbie Brownyn Newport Uncovers Lisa Barlow's Startling Connection to Her Late Ex-Boyfriend
The latest season of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City continues to surprise. Last night's episode of the hit reality series was jam-packed with drama, but we're still reeling from an emotional revelation from Season 5 newbie Bronwyn Newport. RHOSLC's freshman housewife opened up about her late ex, father of her daughter, and the unexpected connection between his family and Lisa Barlow.
As Newport revealed to the audience earlier in the season, she conceived her first daughter, Gwen, while a teenager at Brigham Young University. As she explained in a confessional during the latest episode, "I got pregnant with Gwen when I was 19, turning 20, and her biological father was not involved and passed away shortly after when she was turning 2."
Newport then said that while sitting at the airport with Lisa Barlow, she pulled up a picture of her late ex to show Barlow the resemblance between Gwen and her father. Much to the surprise of both Newport and Barlow, Lisa knew Gwen's father and remains close to his family to this day.
Newport then revealed that she has little to no communication with the family, as they showed no interest in having Gwen in their lives before or after Gwen's father's passing. Bronwyn recalled when they told his family that she was pregnant, it was "not a pleasant conversation" and she "took a fair amount of the blame." She added, "They were not supportive, I can just say that. But it was a conversation that deeply hurt me."
"I left there knowing I was going to have to do this by myself," she continued. "I think he decided this was something that he wasn't gonna be a part of."
When her daughter Gwen was two years old, Newport revealed that she discovered on Facebook that Gwen's father had passed away. "I saw someone had commented on an obituary with a picture of Gwen's dad on it," she said in a confessional. Much to Newport's surprise, Barlow revealed she was there to comfort Gwen's father's parents at that time.
The unexpected connection with Lisa led to an emotional response from Newport, who expressed that she knows her daughter wants a relationship with her father's family and as much as it would pain her, she wants what's best for her. Barlow then revealed that she even reached out to the family recently to see if they would be open to reconciling with Bronwyn and Gwen.

"I said, 'What are the chances?' and she's like, 'It's time,'" Lisa explained. "I think there's regret and hurt there. They were like, 'We want to be a part of Gwen's life and she wants to be a part of our life, we really want it.'"
As Bronwyn revealed on Watch What Happens Live! with Andy Cohen after the episode aired, more will be revealed when it comes to Gwen and her journey with her family during this season of RHOSLC.
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City airs Wednesdays on Bravo, with episodes streaming next day on Peacock.
