Report claims Prince Philip has 'weeks to live'

A shock rumour has emerged claiming Britain’s Prince Philip may have ‘weeks to live’.

According to New Idea, a royal insider told Globe magazine that the 97-year-old is doing poorly.

The claims – which come from an unnamed source and have not been verified – come after Philip was a no-show at the royal family’s annual parade to St. Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham on Christmas Day.

“It’s heartbreaking for Her Majesty, but she has been told Philip has only weeks to live,” the source reportedly told Globe.

“But he’s clinging to life, and daily injections are giving him the energy he needs to function at the most basic level.”

After he was nowhere to be seen on Christmas Day, a palace spokesperson reportedly told The Mirror that the Duke of Edinburgh was well but was “spending the day privately.”

While it’s unclear if there is any truth to these latest health rumours, Philip has had numerous health setbacks in the past few years and in May last year, he spent a few days in hospital after undergoing major hip surgery.

He was admitted to King Edward VII Hospital in London, after being in pain for months.

It came nearly a year after Buckingham Palace announced in April 2017 that the Duke would be stepping down from his official royal duties.

At the time Philip was in good health and even boasted about still fitting into his wedding day uniform.

Since then, the Duke has appeared to be thriving, sitting pride of place at the front of St George’s Chapel in Windsor when his grandson, Prince Harry, married in May and his granddaughter, Princess Eugenie, wed at the same location in October.

However, the Duke has only been seen once since October, as he made his way to Buckingham Palace in a car for the Queen’s annual Christmas lunch on December 19th.

His absence from the Sandringham parade on Christmas Day had royal watchers concerned, especially considering he rarely misses such a poignant event.
