The Seahawks (11-4) are playing the San Francisco 49ers next week with the NFC West title on the line. They’re also in contention for a bye the first week of the playoffs along with the 49ers, Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints.
Lynch to take physical, sides reportedly ‘optimistic’
Update (12:41 p.m. ET): Pete Carroll confirmed to 710 ESPN Seattle that Lynch will be at the Seahawks facility Monday afternoon. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the former star will take a physical and both sides are “optimistic” he’ll be back in a Seattle uniform for week 17.
Adding on to earlier NFL Network report, Marshawn Lynch is scheduled to meet today with Seahawks’ HC Pete Carroll and take a physical, per source.
“Both sides are optimistic he is back wearing 24”, per source. And that would mean Lynch and Seahawks vs. 49ers for NFC West title.

“We’re going to give him a really good chance to come back and play for us,” Carroll said on 710 ESPN Seattle, per Schefter.
Seahawks in need of running back
Seattle entered week 16 already missing Rashaad Penny to a torn ACL. They then lost Chris Carson and C.J. Prosise to season-ending injuries against the Arizona Cardinals.
Carson suffered a hip injury and was ruled out for the season on Monday. He led the team with 278 carries for 1,230 yards and seven touchdowns.
Prosise suffered a broken arm and is done. He had 23 attempts for 72 yards and a touchdown.
Travis Homer is the last back remaining on the team’s official depth chart. After the top two backs left with injuries on Sunday, he took played 28 snaps and had five carries for 16 yards. He added six catches for 26 yards on eight targets.
Rookie RB Xavier Turner is on the practice squad.
Carroll told reporters after the game, via the Tacoma News Tribune:
“We have to get scrambling,” he said. “(Seahawks general manager John Schneider’s) got to get to work and figure out what we’re doing next. That’s a lot of game for Homer to have to play by himself. So obviously we will make some moves here, and figure some stuff out.”
