Yahoo Lifestyle Report: DeAndre Baker, Quinton Dunbar placed on commissioner's exempt list following robbery arrest
New York Giants cornerback DeAndre Baker and Seattle Seahawks cornerback Quinton Dunbar are unlikely to report to training camp as usual. Both Baker and Dunbar have reportedly been placed on the commissioner’s exempt list, according to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News.
Baker, 22, and Dunbar, 28, were arrested in May after allegedly being involved in an armed robbery. Both men reportedly held partygoers at gunpoint, stealing thousands of dollars in cash and other valuable items. Baker and Dunbar were charged with four counts of armed robbery with a firearm. Baker also faces four charges of aggravated with a firearm. Lawyers for Baker and Dunbar claim their clients are innocent.
Warrant suggests Baker, Dunbar tried to cover up crime
Police investigating the robbery believe Baker and Dunbar may have tried to cover up the crime. A warrant suggests a third man, Dominic Johnson, allegedly oversaw a payoff of the witnesses so they would recant their testimonies. Aspects of that meeting may have been captured on video. Johnson was reportedly communicating with Baker regarding how much money Baker should bring to a law office belonging to Dunbar’s lawyer to make the alleged payoff.
Can DeAndre Baker and Quinton Dunbar still report to camp?
Both players can technically report to their teams for non-football activities, but the teams would need to grant Baker and Dunbar permission to come to the facility. The Giants have reportedly already told Baker to stay away from the team, according to Leonard. The Seahawks’ plans with Dunbar are not known at this time.
Both Baker and Dunbar will still be paid while on the commissioner’s exempt list.
