Renée Elise Goldsberry Reflects on Being the Only Woman in Broadway's “All In” and Shares Advice for Her Replacements (Exclusive)
The former 'Hamilton' actress stars alongside John Mulaney, Fred Armisen and Richard Kind, as the first four actors in the show's rotating cast
Renée Elise Goldsberry is embracing all the love around her.
At the Dec. 16 Gala Opening of her new Broadway show All In: Comedy About Love, the actress speaks exclusively with PEOPLE about being the only woman in a full cast of men. Goldsberry, part of the first group of actors in the show's rotating cast, is joined on stage by John Mulaney, Fred Armisen and Richard Kind.
Goldsberry plays a variety of characters throughout the show "that are the subject of people trying to figure out how to love them, how to care for them," she tells PEOPLE. The way to navigate being the only woman on the show, she says, is to focus on all that love.
"I think just soaking it all in is the right way to do this show," she says. "I'm glad I say that out loud before I go through the opening night — just soak it all in."
The former Hamilton actress is the first of several women to star in the show. Between opening night on Dec. 17 and the final show on Feb. 16, Goldsberry will be followed by Chloe Fineman, Aidy Bryant and Annaleigh Ashford.
Goldsberry has no doubt the women of All In will excel in their roles, and she hopes to return and experience the show from the audience.
"For the brilliant women that are coming behind me? Well, they don't need advice. They're so good," Goldsberry tells PEOPLE. "I feel like they are going to take what we started with and just build on it in ways."

She adds, "I guess the one thing I would say — which I don't think they need me to say — is to enjoy being the subject of so much love. Enjoy just receiving so much love."
That love flows through her in real life, too, she says. She and her husband Alexis Johnson recently celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary together.

He's coming to support her and see the show for the first time, Goldsberry shares with PEOPLE.
"And I'm excited," she dished, "because I feel most grateful that no matter how beautiful the story about love that I get to tell, it always makes me even more grateful for what I have at home."
All In opens at Hudson Theater on Dec. 17 and will run for 10 weeks, ending on Feb. 16. Goldsberry will be a part of the cast until Dec. 29.
