Red Bull releases highlight reel of freestyling women soccer players and it’s epic

The Red Bull Street Style World Final is back and it’s more inclusive than ever.

You can probably thank the current outbreak for democratizing Red Bull’s selection process. The entire competition will be held online this year. For the first time in its history, anyone can enter the freestyle football competition — or, as it’s known in North America, freestyle soccer competition — from anywhere in the world. All participants have to do is upload a video showcasing their best soccer tricks.

“This online season of Red Bull Street Style could not have come at a better time and it’s unique. There has never been a freestyle competition on this scale that’s online and open to everyone,” Steve Elias, president of the World Freestyle Football Association (WFFA) said in a statement. “We’re going to see all the top stars and also discover new faces who never had a chance to enter before. It’s exciting.”

The first step of the championship’s five stages is the only level that’s been completed so far. It determined the dozens of men and women that will qualify for the rest of the competition.

Ultimately, the WFAA selected 63 women and showcased their talents in a montage of their submissions. You can expect to see a lot of headstands, flips, footwork, impeccable balance and flying soccer balls in the video.

“Subsequent stages will serve up specific challenges related to musicality, trick execution and creativity. With each, the field is whittled further while the global exposure, including live performances, grows higher,” Red Bull said in a statement. “Finally, 16 men and eight women will face off in stage five, the battle of the online World Final, streamed live worldwide.”
