Rebel Wilson 'kidnapped at gunpoint' in Africa: 'I was petrified'

Rebel Wilson has revealed that she was ‘kidnapped at gunpoint’ while on a trip to Africa.

According to The Sun, the Aussie star made the shocking admission for the very first time in an upcoming episode of her new TV show, Ant Middleton & Rebel Wilson: Straight Talking, which airs on Sky One in the UK.

Rebel’s kidnapping nightmare

“There was one time in Africa where I got kidnapped. It was in rural Mozambique,” the 40-year-old actor is quoted as saying.

“We were on this cattle truck and these men came on another truck with a lot of guns. [They pulled up beside us] with the big guns and they were like, ‘Yeah, you've got to get off your truck,’” she added.

Rebel goes on to tell her co-host, SAS Australia’s Ant Middleton, that the kidnappers moved her and what appears to be a group of female friends to a ‘house in the middle of nowhere’.

Reflecting on the terrifying ordeal, Rebel said that she considered herself to be ‘good in the crisis’ and even took on a ‘team leader’ role.

“[The kidnappers] sat us down, and I said, ‘Everybody link arms,’ because I was petrified in the night that they might want to take one of the girls or something,” she explained.

Thankfully, Rebel and her companions were released unscathed and had their truck returned to them the following morning, and, while they ‘didn’t ask questions’ she suspects foul play.

“I think maybe those guys, maybe, used us to smuggle illegal things in the bottom of the truck,” she said.

Rebel and her party crossed the border into South Africa a ‘few hours’ after their horrible experience was over.

Mates in Mexico

Rebel took to Instagram on Monday to plug the action-packed new show — deep-sea diving and buggy racing are reportedly on the cards — which appears to have been shot over a few days in Mexico.

“This is what I look like 3 days into the Mexican wilderness with @antmiddleton,” she captioned a smiley selfie with the former Special Forces soldier.

It’s not known exactly when the pair filmed the program, however, Rebel and her new beau, Jacob Busch, did spend a romantic getaway in the Mexican state of Cabo San Lucas in October last year.
