The reason Meghan Markle and Prince Harry won't be hiring a nanny

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to welcome their first child together in April, but unlike their relatives – the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – the pair won’t be hiring a nanny.

Instead, they’re looking into childcare from those closer to them, specifically Meghan’s mother.

According to Vanity Fair, royal insiders claim the Sussexes will be relying on Doria Ragland – who is currently based Los Angeles – when the baby first arrives.

Last year, rumours began swirling Doria may relocate to the United Kingdom in order to be closer to her daughter.

“I think this (the move) has been coming for a while,” a friend of Doria’s reportedly told The Express.

“Even before the wedding, she told me how she misses her Megs so much she would do anything to be closer to her, especially now Meghan will be starting a family of her own.”

Harry and Meghan’s baby to have a ‘normal’ life

Despite the royal status of their unborn baby, Meghan and Harry are also determined their child will value the “normal things in life”, like chores and hard work.

“[Meghan wants to] bring up children who know the values of normal things in life,” royal expert Omid Scobie told Us Weekly magazine last year. “Meghan will take her kids on a subway.

“They’ll have chores, and jobs one day. They won’t be spoiled.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s pregnancy announcement

The royal couple announced in October last year – five months after tying the knot, and just hours after arriving in Australia – they were expecting their first child together.

“Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019,” the palace said in statement on Twitter.

“Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”
