Big Brother Australia winner Tim Dormer has revealed the moment he was told a single email had ended his career with the Nine Network.
The affable prankster became a household name after winning the reality TV show in 2013.
Tim claims things went pear shaped with the network after he at first refused to make a cameo appearance on the show the following year.
Speaking candidly with his fellow Big Brother Canada contestants last night, the wildcard entrant said he even flew to the Big Brother base in Queensland at the request of producers.
"They didn’t cast anyone like me," he said. "They said "We’re not looking for another Tim", and people didn’t watch it. Then they called up and said "Get on a plane, can you come into the house?"'.
Tim said he got the shock of his life after exiting the house after a disgruntled fan sent him blunt email accusing him of "selling out".
"During the day on this Big Brother forum a fan had written an email to me and said "You are not who you were the first time around, you were obviously just following directions, you’re in the back pocket of the network and Big Brother’s s--t this year, we were hoping you were gonna fix it,"' he said.
But the message ended up backfiring on Tim when the fan took a screenshot of his response and shared it online.
"About half an hour later there's a knock on the dressing room door and they're holding a printout of the email and they're like "Did you write this? This is really serious," he said.
"I went, "I'm not gonna lie, I did. The show is s--t." So they then went and got the network person who looked after the show and she just said "You've totally f---ed your career, we will never work with you again. You cannot bite the hand that feeds you."'
Despite the setback Tim still worked with Nine, appearing on Celebrity Apprentice in 2015.
