Reality star Brielle Biermann defends photo on stepdad's lap
Just days after Fuller House actress Candace Cameron Bure refused to apologise for posting a handsy picture with her husband to her Instagram page, a US reality star has been forced to defend herself, after an image of her sitting on her stepfather’s lap sparked outrage online.
23-year-old Brielle Biermann stars on Don’t Be Tardy together with her mother Kim Zolciak-Biermann, who was a Real Housewives of Atlanta star.
On the weekend Brielle uploaded a snap to Instagram wishing her adopted father, Kroy Biermann, a happy birthday.
“Happy Birthday to the most amazing father & man I’ll ever know,” she wrote in the post’s caption. “I couldn’t imagine a life without your hardworking, selfless, loving, caring self!”
In one photo, Brielle snuggled up to her stepdad, sitting on his lap, and in the next, still on his lap, posed with him and her mother.
The photo had some fans questioning why Brielle was seated on her stepfather’s lap, with many calling it inappropriate.
“Your daughter should not be sitting in your husband lap,” one fan wrote to Kim.
“Why you sitting on your momma husband lap?” another wondered.
Brielle and fans slam ‘disturbing commentary around photo
Brielle hit back at the criticism, saying she simply had nowhere else to sit.
“Honestly bc I had no where [sic] else to sit we were making jokes the whole time about him being Santa it was comedy,” she wrote in response.
Fans quickly came to her defence calling criticism of the photo ‘disturbing’.
“It’s her dad,” one pointed out. “He adopted her! People are so sick.”
“The comments [about] her sitting on her Dad’s lap [are] disturbing,” another wrote.

“Some of these comments are ridiculous!” yet another fan chimed in. “A child sat on her dad's lap...what is abnormal about that?”
Kroy was a former American football star for the Atlanta Falcons.
He wed Brielle’s mother in November 2011, and adopted Brielle and her sister Ariana within two years.
In July of 2013, he publicly confirmed the adoption.
Kroy and Kim have gone on to have a further four children together, KJ, 9, son Kash, 8, and twins Kaia and Kane, 6, bringing their brood to a total of six kids.
