'Real Housewives' Kyle Richards, Tamra Judge and more are wearing these leggings
If you watch any of the Bravo Real Housewives franchises, you know that the women love to dress up and go glam. But when going on hikes, long walks, workout classes or just hanging out at home, the women tend to dress down in one brand, in particular: Alo Yoga.
If you're not familiar, Alo Yoga is a Los Angeles-based athletic apparel brand that meshes style with function. The brand's main mission is to have a sustainable, inclusive clothing line that performs beautifully on the yoga mat and is "made to wear from studio to street." Their comfy pieces are beloved by even wildly rich housewives like Kyle Richards, Robyn Dixon, Whitney Rose, Tamra Judge — well, actually, all of the Real Housewives of Orange County have been spotted in the brand.
Two of the brand's most worn leggings are its Airlift and Airbrush styles, both available at the Alo website, at Nordstrom and at other select retailers.
The Airlift Leggings feature the brand's "airlift" fabric, its most compressive fabric that has a shiny finish and plenty of stretch. The high-rise waistband is double-layered for a slimming, sleek look.
These leggings are great for running, strength training, HIIT workouts — or anytime you just want a little extra compression in your leggings.
One shopper shared in the reviews: "My first pair of Alo leggings — I have always been a Lululemon girl. I just ordered another pair because I want to wear them every day. My clients at the gym are commenting how flattering they are."
"Amazing leggings" said another. "They don’t fall down, [they] feel great and pet hair doesn’t stick to them, which is a huge plus as a multiple dog owner."
The Airbrush Leggings are softer, and while still compressive, not as much as the Airlift. They are made with a stretchy cotton material. And they also boast a waist-snatching extra thick waistband.
Their soft leggings are great for yoga, pilates and less vigorous activities — like curling up on the couch with a good book or movie.
"Love these so much!" said one reviewer. "Bought a pair in Black a few months ago and loved it so much that I came back to buy two more in Anthracite and Purple Dusk. Prefer these over the Lulu's Align pants now because I love that it’s a more substantial fabric, but with a waistband that still doesn’t dig in."
"I have an older body (49) and needed a tummy flattener and bum lifter. These do the job," shared another. "Only request I would have is for them to be a tiny bit higher in the waist. As my bum heads south more, I’d love a style that can work even harder to lift the bum more. But these deliver on their promises, and I love them. So soft and I don’t want to take them off."
Both types of leggings come in two lengths — full length or a 7/8 length, the latter recommended for those under 5'5". And both come in a wide range of colors, although the famous ladies of the OC usually stick to neutrals like black, gray or brown.
Personally, I have a pair of both of the Airlift and Airbrush leggings at home. I prefer the Airlift because I like the extra compression and the sheen. I wear them for all types of workouts, even just to walk my dog. I have over five pairs at this point. As for my Airbrush leggings, I tend to wear them more in my home when I'm just chilling, and I find that while the fabric is very comfy, it's more prone to pilling. Hang-drying them and using a fabric shaver is a simple solution to that, though.
Next to Alo's leggings, the Housewives seem to love the brand's jackets. On the latest season of RHOC, Heather Dubrow wore the Ribbed Velour Gold Rush Puffer, Emily Simpson wore the Faux Fur Foxy Jacket and Judge wore the Aspen Love Puffer Jacket.
Needless to say, if you're looking to spice up your athletic wear, whether you're wearing it to exercise, run errands or just gossip at a friend's house, Alo Yoga may be a good place to start.
And if you're looking to take your at-home workouts to another level, you may want to look into the brand's fitness platr Alo Moves.
In addition to its clothing, Alo Yoga also has a fitness streaming platform called Alo Moves, where you can take virtual pilates, yoga, strength training classes and more. Now through Oct. 28, you can get $50 off an annual membership. The classes start at 5 minutes long and range from beginner to advanced. If you're just getting back into exercising, I especially love the 7-day programs to help keep me on track.
