Ravil Isyanov, NCIS and Marvel star, dies aged 59 after long illness

Film, television and voice actor Ravil Isyanov has died at the age of 59 after battling a long illness.

The star, who had worked in the entertainment industry for more than 30 years, died at his Los Angeles home on September 29, his reps confirmed.

"He was a true gentleman and worked up until [his] passing. I've worked with him for 20 years and we became firm friends," his longtime agent Tanya Kleckner told Variety.

"He will be sorely missed. We are all heartbroken by this tragic loss, a beautiful soul gone way too soon."

His manager, Frederick Levy, confirmed to People that the star was battling cancer, although he was unclear on what kind.

"Ravil was one of a kind. He was a true gentleman, extremely generous and incredibly talented," he said.

Most recently Ravil held recurring roles on CBS' NCIS: Los Angeles, Glow and TNT's The Last Ship, as well as a role in Season 5 of FX's The Americans and Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

He also starred on the big screen in films including Defiance, K-19: The Widowmaker, and Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Ravil was born in 1962 in the city of Voskresensk in the Soviet Union.

He spent two years in the Soviet Air Force, before he worked at the Khabarovsk Theatre and studied at the Moscow Art Theatre School and the Oxford branch of the British American Drama Academy.

In 1998, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his acting career.

Ravil is survived by his wife Erika, daughter Gulya, son-in-law Marios, and grandchildren Cassandra and Nikita. Isyanov is also survived by stepdaughter Aneta, her husband Jon, and step-grandchildren Mila and Tali
