Ravens safety Earl Thomas guarantees Super Bowl: 'Whoever we play, they're going to be in trouble'

Baltimore Ravens safety Earl Thomas feels awfully confident in his team. The 30-year-old Thomas all but guaranteed the Ravens would make it to the Super Bowl this season, telling reporters, “Whoever we play [in the Super Bowl], they’re going to be in trouble.”

Thomas was asked about the big game in anticipation of the Ravens taking on the San Francisco 49ers in Week 13, according to the Baltimore Sun.

When asked how he feels about Sunday possibly being a sneak-peek into February’s championship game, Thomas responded, “You think the 49ers are going to the Super Bowl? It could be, let’s see. We’ll just go out there and try to play the best football we can possibly do. And when the Super Bowl comes, whoever we play, they’re going to be in trouble.”

At 10-1, the 49ers have the best record in the NFC. The Ravens, meanwhile, sit at 9-2. The New England Patriots have a better record at 10-1, but their only loss came against Baltimore. Given that, there’s at least a decent chance Week 13 will feature a preview of the big game.

While the Ravens stand a good chance of getting to the Super Bowl — especially if quarterback Lamar Jackson keeps playing like the MVP frontrunner — Thomas’ declaration is bold. Should the Ravens fall in the Divisional Round or in the AFC Championship game, Thomas is going to hear about it from both fans and players on the opposing team.

And yet, Thomas’ confidence seems fitting. The Ravens have played a bold style of football this season. The team has aggressively gone for it on fourth down, and has opted for 2-point conversions over extra points at times. On top of that, Mark Ingram has been the team’s biggest hype man, going to bat for Jackson and the offense constantly.

That attitude has led to a lot of success this season. Thomas might as well keep riding it until another team gives the Ravens a reason to worry.
