Rachael Ray Reveals The Unexpected Secret To Her 'Healthy' Marriage
If a couple were to tell you that they engage in screaming matches to solve their marital problems, you'd probably offer them the number to your therapist. But according to television host Rachael Ray, these heated exchanges are exactly what keep her marriage "healthy."
The 56-year-old author made the shocking reveal during the first episode of her new podcast, I'll Sleep When I'm Dead. Ray admitted that she and her husband are hardly ever calm and that screaming matches are a common occurrence in their household.
“It’s very hard, especially for hot-tempered or creative or vociferous loud people to be able to just calm it down,” she shared on the podcast, People reports. “John and I don’t calm it down ever. We have huge screaming matches all the time, but I think that’s healthy. I really do."
Later in the episode, Ray went on to confess that she gets a bit nervous when someone's "too quiet."
"I prefer that you tell me what you think when you think it and let’s just get it all out there,” she added.
And if you think their screaming matches end with loving apologies to one another, think again.
"I don’t know that we ever apologize to each other," Ray confessed.
Given that Ray and her husband John Cusimano have been married for nearly 20 years, they might just be on to something with their argumentative antics. The pair will celebrate their 20th anniversary on September 24, 2005.
