Rachael Lillis, ‘Pokémon’ Actress Who Voiced Jessie and Misty, Dead at 46
Voice actress Rachael Lillis—the talent behind Pokémon characters Misty, Jessie and Jigglypuff—is dead at 46.
On Monday, Aug. 12, Lillis' Pokémon co-star, Veronica Taylor—who voiced Ash Ketchum—announced her death via X (formerly Twitter).
"It is with a very heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of Rachael Lillis on Saturday evening, 10 August, 2024," Taylor wrote.
She described Lillis as an "extraordinary talent" and as having "a bright light that shone through her voice whether speaking or singing."
"She will be forever remembered for the many animated roles she played, with her iconic performances as Pokémon's Misty and Jessie being the most beloved," Taylor continued, before revealing a clue about Lillis' cause of death.

"Rachel was so thankful for all of the generous love and support that was given to her as she battled with cancer," she added. "It truly made a positive difference. Her family also wishes to thank you as they take this time to grieve privately. A memorial is being planned for a future date."
In the comments, Pokémon fans reacted to the news and shared their condolences. One X user wrote, "Goodbye and thank you for a childhood of memories, Rachael Lillis😭."
Voice actor Daman Mills shared, "I'm so very sorry for your loss, Veronica. I never got to meet her, but I know her work well. She was incredibly talented. Sending you and yours all the love to get through this difficult time.❤️."

In addition to her Pokémon characters, Lillis notably lent her voice to the TV series Sonic X, Winx Club and more, as well as several iterations of the Super Smash Bros. video game.
